Frequently Asked Questions

Can you come to my work or home?

Yes. One of the many benefits of our model is that we can provide care wherever is most effective or convenient for our patients. You do not need an onsite gym or a home workout room. We are able to bring all equipment needed, and only require a small space to setup a treatment table and/or perform exercises. We do have limitations on distance we will travel - not more than a 75 mile one way trip from the clinic (43 W 11th St, Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870).

Do I need a referral or prescription from my physician?

No. In the state of North Carolina, you do not need a prescription or referral to receive physical therapy. If you do have a prescription (or even if you don't), we are happy to maintain communications with your referring physician about your treatment and results. Keep in mind that these referrals will often prescribe frequencies and durations for treatment, such as "3 times per week for 8 weeks." We are almost always able to achieve results using significantly fewer visits than these types of referrals suggest.

Is it expensive?

We've all been to the doctor's office or clinic and used our insurance to [supposedly] pay for treatment, only to get a huge, unexpected bill in the mail months later. Nowadays, it's the norm for both the patient and the provider to be almost completely in the dark as to how much any given visit or procedure is going to ultimately cost the patient. At Drive, we are up front with our pricing, and you will never get that unexpected bill long after treatment is done. (See Services/Scheduling for all our rates). Our private-pay rate is often lower than what your insurance company will often pass on to you for a typical PT visit. Additionally, since we can spend more quality time with our patients and be more efficient with their time, we can achieve these great results in fewer visits than traditional clinics. When you take into account the cost per visit before a deductible has been met and the reduced number of visits, a course of care at Drive can cost less than at traditional clinics. Even after a deductible has been met, copays still get charged every visit, and this keeps Drive's total rate very competitive, despite the elevated quality of care.

Do you take my insurance?

We are classified as out-of-network for all major insurances. Most of our patients do have private health insurance through their employers or businesses but choose to see us receive the highest quality care and not have an insurance company dictate what they can and cannot have. The out-of-network model allows us to focus solely on providing one on one care, resulting in extremely high patient satisfaction and excellent outcomes, often not possible in the traditional insurance model. After each visit, you will be provided with necessary receipts and treatment documentation so you can submit for out of network benefits from your insurance provider if you choose.

Do you have weekend hours?

We do offer occasional weekend hours; see Scheduling link to find availability. If you do not see a time you need listed as available, reach out to us (phone, text or email); we may still be able to find a time that can work for you.

Do I need to be an athlete or "in shape" to work with Drive?

No. While we do work with athletes to help them reach their specific performance goals, we have years of working with average folks of all types of activity levels and abilities. In fact, most of our patients don't consider themselves highly active or competitive; they simply want to feel and move better.
